The Poo Oil

The other day when Mark was in our living room looking for a favourite blend to dose up our dryer wool, he came to me and said:

“I can see the Lemon, Citrus Bloom, and the POO oil.”

“Poo oil?” I said.

“Yeah, the oil we have in the toilet that we use to make the poo smell go away…”

“Ohhh, Niaouli Oil…” I replied, chuckling to myself.

Living in a regular-sized three-bedroom house with two growing boys and two toilets means it can be hard to be discreet when it comes to doing number twos. Somehow, the smell seems to travel faster than ever.

As you know, we’re a low-tox home, so using a powdered, chemical-laden air freshener was never going to be an option for us. That meant I was on the hunt for a solution that actually worked — without the crazy chemicals.

Over the years I’ve made up numerous water-based sprays with peppermint, lemon, and wild orange, but none of them stopped the “poo particles” from spreading outside the toilet…

Then along came Niaouli. It had been a Limited Time Only oil through doTERRA for a while, but I hadn’t done much research on how to use it daily. Then one day, an info card arrived in one of my orders, and the point about it being an air purifier really stood out.

Those two words — air purifier — instantly took me back to a memory from years ago, at a family friend’s house. They used an essential-oil-based product where you’d put a drop in the toilet after flushing, to neutralise any lingering smells.

Hmmm, I thought. Maybe we could do the same here.

I already had a few opened bottles of Niaouli in my collection, so I moved them into the toilets and started training the boys to add a drop after flushing. And you know what? It worked! No more rogue poo particles drifting down the hallway.

Three months later, my little experiment has been such a success that I’m now educating extended family members to do the same.

I even take Niaouli Oil with me when I’m travelling or sharing accommodation with friends — it was definitely in my bag for the doTERRA convention a few weeks ago.

So… now I’m sharing it with you, and I highly recommend giving it a try. Just flush and add a drop or two of Niaouli, and witness all of your “poo particles” being swept away into the fragrant tones of this superpower oil.

The Poo oil might be exactly what your house needs.
